Key Responsibilities Breakdown

Transportation & Mobility: Provide transportation, assist with learning train travel, and accompany the individual to social events and appointments.

Social Support: Identify social opportunities, help overcome anxiety, prepare social scripts, and offer real-time support during social interactions.

Emotional & Physical Support: Provide emotional support during distress, manage Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), and assist with physical symptoms like IBS flare-ups and heart rate regulation.

Health & Safety: Maintain a smoke-free environment and follow safety protocols, such as wearing an FFP3 mask when required.

Queer & Trans Affirmative Support: Promote and support queer and trans-affirmative spaces.

Overnight & Holiday Support: Potentially offer support during holidays and overnight stays in the future

Candidate Requirements

Driver’s Licence: Must be a licensed car driver and comfortable driving a manual vehicle.

      

Experience: Previous experience working with autistic individuals or in a similar support role is highly desirable.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and calm guidance.

Empathy & Patience: Demonstrated ability to offer empathetic and patient support, especially in challenging situations.

Physical Stamina: Capable of providing physical support when necessary, including during potential fainting episodes.

Flexibility: Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the individual, including flexibility with working hours.     

Non-Smoker: Must maintain a smoke-free environment.

Desirable Attributes

● Understanding of Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and strategies to manage it.

● Knowledge of autism and the challenges associated with sensory processing, social interaction, and emotional regulation.

● Experience in supporting individuals with anxiety, panic attacks, and related conditions.

● Comfortable and experienced in queer and trans-affirmative environments
